Hope your Christmas was the way you needed it to be. I did not get the increasingly absent of late traditional ‘white Christmas.’ It is definitely climate change as the day here was in the mid-40s and sunny. It might as well have been a fall day in Philadelphia if it wasn’t for the Xmas decor sparkling here.
I hosted dinner for my EXbf. As you know, he’s been navigating cancer but is currently doing well. He’s a bit slow of walk but that’s just age catching up with him. I set a beautiful table and went the extra mile to ensure that if indeed this is his last Christmas it would be the best I could make it. My perfection syndrome kicked in early enough that I cracked a Xanax in half with a chardonnay chaser. By mid-afternoon I had numbed my feelings enough to have a fairly happy Christmas. Also I burned the scalloped potatoes. So there’s that.
But really, I mean, it could be MY last Christmas. Who knows?! We all hang here by a thread but lose sight of that in our frenzied quest for the new, now, and next. That’s my new year wish for you. Stay in the now. Be present. Be the light in someone’s life today.
In other news, I’m typing this via my iPhone. I finally figured out that my desktop and laptop browsers need to be updated. I’ve tried to do that but apparently it’s a skill best left to 14yr olds who have that innate expertise regarding tech language. “Go to applications” might as well read “braise turnips in beef reduction” as I’m illiterate in the kitchen, too.
Happy new year. Be safe out there. Get the booster.
